The Town of Holden is continuing efforts to plan for dissemination of the H1N1 vaccine to Holden residents. According to the CDC, vaccination of H1N1 will be given to priority populations first. Priority populations consist of pregnant women, people who live with and care for children younger than 6 months of age, health care and emergency medical services personnel, persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years of age, and people ages 25 through 64 years who have chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems. It is
advised that pregnant women and anyone with chronic health conditions consult with their primary care physician about getting the H1N1 vaccine. It is anticipated the vaccine will be available sometime in the fall.
Personal protection of H1N1 and seasonal flu virus should be ongoing to prevent infection and spread of the viruses such as covering coughs and sneezes, frequent hand washing, and staying home when sick.
For more information about H1N1 please visit the CDC website for the most up to date information at www.cdc.gov Or call the Holden Board of Health at 508-829-0254.
