Directors Report

Programs: SANTA - Thank you/Christmas cards have been mailed to Santa, the Woodbury Family and First Congregational Church.  Thank you to all members of the committee and family members who volunteered.  A thank you letter has been sent out to the Landmark thanking the Fire/Police/DPW departments and the Girl Scouts.  Donations totaled $41.00.  Learn to ski program registration has been extended to allow us more time to advertise.  A new session of programs is being scheduled for Mountview.  Class offerings include cross-stitch, babysitting certification and guitar lessons.  Flyers are being prepared for distribution in early January.  A Latin dance exercise program will be offered beginning in January.  The class will be held at Wachusett.  There are 256 children enrolled in the Before/After School Programs.  I have hired 2 new staff members to fill the slots of the 2 people I lost because of their schedule changes.

Miscellaneous: Mountview tennis courts have been added to capital projects for FY 09.  I received an estimate of $80,000.00 from Vermont Tennis Surfacing.  I am expecting an estimate from Leahy Excavating, a Holden based company.  I sent an email to the Town Manager's office requesting that if someone has completed a "do-something" questionnaire for the Recreation Committee, that we need to fill a vacancy.

New Business: Jacquie Kelly, Assistant Town Manager and I met with an advisory group today from Wachusett Regional High School.  The group is interested in volunteering their services or having a fund raising event to help the Recreation Department with a projet.  I gave them a few examples of how they can help: landscaping, painting or donating a bench to the new playground at the former Rice School.

Happy Holidays to all.

The next Recreation Committee meeting will be held in February 12th @ 7:00 p.m., at the Starbard Building.

We will not be meeting in January because of a conflict.  Meeting adjourned at 8:00pm.
