Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2007
Starbard Building

Members Present:           Susan Serewicz, Lisa Post, Lucy Banks
Members Absent:            Rosemary Johnson

Others Present:              Denise Morano, Recreation Director, Dawn Placentino-Olen, Recording Secretary, Wendy Nickel - Recreation Supervisor

The Recreation Committee meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.

Minutes: A motion was made and seconded by Susan Serewicz
To accept the Recreation Committee minutes as written for October 2, 2007.

Directors Report

Programs: ADULT: Yoga has 9 enrolled for this session; Golf was scheduled to begin tonight but only 3 have registered we will re-offer in January.  Cardio-blast will drop the Thursday night class due to scheduling difficulties and Tuesday night has 10 enrolled.  CPR started last week with 4 registered.  Men's Basketball has 25-28 guys/week.  The basketball program at Dawson was dropped because of enrollment.  Women's volleyball has 5 new participants, to boost their number to 14.  The New York City bus trip is filled with 56 people.  CHILDREN'S: Ski and snowboard lessons at Ward Hill have been advertised.  Classes will begin January 7.  Tiny Blades has 1 registered.  There are currently 259 children enrolled in the Before/After School Program.  MOUNTVIEW: 3 on 3 basketball tournament began today.  There are 24 teams competing over three days.  Knitting class has 5 registered and 5 sessions of babysitting are scheduled.  SANTA: Everything is scheduled for Santa's arrival on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 5:00 pm.

Miscellaneous: My fiscal year 2009 capital budget items include monies for the upgrading/renovating of the kitchen and an additional ADA bathroom at Trout Brook; a well for the field at the former Rice School; lights to be installed on the soccer field at Mayo School, and one half the cost to reconstruct the tennis court at Mountview.  I have advertised for new staff to help fill the slots of the staff members that are leaving.

The next Recreation Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 11, at 7:00 pm at the Starbard Building.
