08/23/2007
TRANSPORTATION/CIRCULATION COMMITTEE
RECORD OF MEETING
August 23, 2007

PRESENT: D. Lawton, R. Ferguson, J. Zingarelli, Senior Civil Engineer

1. July meeting record approved.

2. CMRPC Computer Model

Central Mass. Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) has issued a report on its computer model traffic study of a possible I-190/Malden Street interchange.  T/C reviewed the report at today's meeting and have the following comments.

a. The study was rather superficial.
b. There were no surprises in the report's conclusions.
c. There were no overriding reasons presented for Holden to further consider pursuing an interchange at this location.

It had been reported to T/C by Steve Mentzer that the Holden Master Plan Committee had at some point decided not to pursue the plan for an interchange. T/C concurs with that decision.

3. Doyle Road intersections with Brattle Street and with Shrewsbury Streets

Comments in July T/C meeting record are still valid. Nothing new.

4. Main Street intersections

Accident reports for the period from January 1 to August 1, 2007 for each of three Main Street intersections (Route 31, Salisbury/Malden Streets, and Industrial Drive) have been received from the Holden Police Department.  These have been forwarded to Mass. Highway and also to each T/C member.  The plan is for two Mass. Highway representatives to meet with Jim Zingarelli (T/C also invited) some time after Labor Day in Holden.  It is hoped that some mutually acceptable traffic pattern improvements can be agreed upon.

5. Shrewsbury Street Cross-Walk at Parker Avenue

A request has been received from parents of children attending school in the area. This was tabled for additional study at the September T/C meeting.

6. General

a. Town Manager has requested that his office be added to the T/C monthly record distribution list. This will be done.
b. Recent "The Landmark" articles on Greenwood Estates, Faford Realty, and Walgreen have been noted by T/C but T/C has not received any detailed information or requests from the Planning  Board. Consequently T/C has no basis for comment.

Meeting adjourned at 4:40 pm.
Next meeting: Thursday September 20, 2007 at 3pm.
